Dublin’s Hidden Histories returns for second series in partnership with Trinity Long Room Hub and Unit18. Recorded in front of a live audience, and featuring songs sung by An Goilin Traditional singers, the series will bring to light histories of Dublin that have been lost or forgotten.
In this episode, presenter Ciarán Murray is joined by Professor Frank Barry (Emeritus Professor of International Business and Economic Development at TCD) to explore the vanished industrial landscape of inner-city Dublin. Once home to bustling bakeries, breweries, sweet factories, foundries, textile mills and shipyards, the city’s streets echoed with the sounds of production and the lives of thousands of workers.. Songs are provided by Frank Nugent, Fergus Russell and Annie Hughes of An Goilin Traditional singers.
The episode is researched and presented by Ciaran Murray. Produced by Jaye Palmer. Sound design by Paul Loughran. Recorded by Gay Graham and Gabor Zajzon. Production support from Bill Bergin. Thanks to Aoife King, Rike Held, Christina Hamilton, Holly Ritchie and all the team in Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute. Photo by Christina Hamilton.
