This Sporting Life: The Story of Minority Sport in North Dublin

This Sporting Life is an upbeat and lively series of short documentaries which capture the excitement and dedication of minority sports people and encourages others to join in. Each programme serves as an introduction to a different minority sport practiced in Northside Dublin.

6. Badminton

The Baldoyle Badminton Center is located in Baldoyle industrial estate and is vital for the sport on the Northside of Dublin. From humble beginnings back in the 80′s when the site was an abandoned factory some dedicated badminton players have turned the centre into the home of badminton on the northside of the city. With eight courts, a bar and the headquarters of Badminton Ireland the centre is vibrant and busy catering for players of all ages and abilities. Featuring contributions from Jean Denihan, Mary Dinan, novelist Sheila O’Flanagan and the Raheny Auld Fellas.
