Legendary Cow Punk/Country Rock band Jason and the Scorchers are currently on a tour of Europe to celebrate their 30th Anniversary, which includes dates in Ireland and The UK

Jason and the Scorchers formed in Nashville in 1981.  The blazed a trail in the 80s/90s taking the spirit of Country via Hank Williams, Rock n’ Roll via Link Wray, and blended it with Punk Rock to create their own distinctive sound.

When the band broke up, lead singer Jason Ringenberg embarked on a solo career releasing four studio albums, a retrospective collection ,and two under the alias Farmer Jason, a moniker he put together to perform and record for children.

The band reformed for a while in the 90s, splitting again in 1998 with the release of the excellent live album ‘Midnight Roads & Stages Seen’ They got back together occasionally to play dates, but since 2008 and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance, the band have been officially back together.

The current line up features Jason, and original member Warner E. Hodges, along with new recruits Al Collins on bass, and Swedish musician Pontus Snibb on drums.

They current line up released the critically acclaimed ‘Halycon Times’ in 2010.

Original member Jeff Johnson retired from music to pursue a career in film, and original drummer Perry Baggs sadly passed away this year. RIP

They are currently on a tour of Europe celebrating 30 years of the band. They play Whelans in Dublin this coming Wednesday (26th of September). Buy tickets here
