LIFE Unfiltered – Sean Adams and Grief

This week on Life Unfiltered, Maria McHale was joined by Sean Adams, IACP-accredited psychotherapist at Summit Counselling in Swords. Sean lost his father two years ago after years of illness including throat cancer, a laryngectomy and a spinal injury that left him tetraplegic. In this conversation he reflects on the particular grief of losing a parent you didn’t always find easy and what it means to keep understanding someone after they’re gone.

Drawing on Michael Harding’s book I Loved Him From The Day He Died, Sean and Maria talked about layered loss and accepting parents for who they were rather than who we want them to be.
