Shea Walsh talks about his children’s novel, The Irish Experiences of Bearly Able and Gonzo Book 3.
A tale of two bears who journey by boat as stowaways from America to Ireland and explore South-West Ireland from Cork to Galway and back again.
They camp out near National Monument sites and ruins of old churches as these places usually offer solitude and undisturbed quietness.
Also the stone circles have a celestial aspect connected to the night sky which the two black bears use as a guide for their bearings.
They like to travel near rivers and the seacoasts where they can sample Ireland’s bountiful seafood.
Bearly Able has ‘Asbeargers’ Syndrome while his uncle Gonzo is a whizz on his laptop.
The author Shea Walsh composed the tale by telling bed-time stories to his son and daughter when they were small children after they all saw a solitary black bear near their home in Florida.
