Reminiscence on the Radio: 1965

1965 was the year that The Hucklebuck took Ireland by storm, it stayed seven weeks at number one and knocked the Beatles off the singles charts.  John Gore Grimes remembers being trapped in ice in the Arctic for five and a half days and recalls feeding wild polar bears salami sausage.  He also met penguins in the Antarctic on his many sea voyages.  His wife Limerick born Kate Byrne, award winning photographer and artist, remembers going to the beach in Ballybunion with her seven siblings in a VW Beetle.
