This Sporting Life: The Story of Minority Sport in North Dublin

This Sporting Life is an upbeat and lively series of short documentaries which capture the excitement and dedication of minority sports people and encourages others to join in. Each programme serves as an introduction to a different minority sport practiced in Northside Dublin.

23. Javelin & Pole Vault

The Field Sports in athletics are probably the ones that get the least amount of coverage in the media. Blue Ribband events like the 100 and 200 metres, 5000 and 10,000 metres and the marathon all seen to dominate the headlines  but that doesn’t mean that there are not many talented and dedicated athletes taking part in the less heralded but equally demanding field sports. We went along to Morton Stadium in Santry to meet some of the participants in two of these sports Javelin and Pole-Vault to find out more about these sports and the people who have chosen to compete in them.
