This Sporting Life: The Story of Minority Sport in North Dublin

This Sporting Life is an upbeat and lively series of short documentaries which capture the excitement and dedication of minority sports people and encourages others to join in. Each programme serves as an introduction to a different minority sport practiced in Northside Dublin.

10. Marathon Running

Marathon running is the ultimate test of body and mind with the distance of 26 miles 385 yards taking a huge amount of training to conquer. The sport is becoming increasingly popular and this years Dublin Marathon set a new record for a participation sports event in Ireland with 14.352 entrants. We spoke to a couple of men who have the Dublin marathon 6 times between them Dick Hooper and John Fulham. The program also features contributions from Kevin Redmond (a first time marathon runner), Liam Moggan, Stephen Blair and Neil Glover.
