In this eighth episode of Joy and Jargon, I chat with Anna Galligan, an expert and a seasoned arts professional with nearly 40 years of experience as an actress, drama facilitator, theatre director, performing arts teacher, and lecturer. She has designed theatre training programs and consulted in youth theatre, mental health, education, and law. At Youth Theatre Ireland for 10 years, she launched initiatives like ArtsTrain, ‘Leading On…,’ and ‘The Young Critic’s Programme,’ plus best practices. She then served 13 years as Director of Participation and Education at Barnstorm Theatre Company in Kilkenny. Currently, she teaches at Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training, lectures on creativity and performance, and directs adaptations of Animal Farm (which will be on March 9) and Oedipus Rex (which will be on March 26) at the VISUAL Arts Centre in Carlow (Visual Arts Carlow | Carlow Attractions | What to do in Carlow). Her passion for theatre’s history and terminology makes her an engaging educator and director focused on practical insights.
