Mei Chin is a Chinese-American food and fiction writer, lecturer, and co-host of Spice Bags, a podcast that explores food culture in Ireland “from the outside in.” She has written for major publications like Saveur, The New York Times, Gourmet, Vogue, and in Ireland for The Irish Times and The Irish Independent. Mei has also been recognised with several awards—including the James Beard M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award and multiple IACP awards for her culinary journalism.
In Spice Bags she uses her outsider/insider perspective to ask questions like how immigration and diaspora shape what Ireland eats today, exploring not just food, but identity, culture, history and belonging.
