Congratulations to David Fitzsimons on winning the 2024 Irish Chess Championship in August. The competition consists of nine games in nine days. Next year it will be held in Ennis, County Clare. David has competed internationally in chess tournaments since he was a youngster and is part of the Irish Team participating in the Chess Olympiad in Budapest this September. The Olympiad is the biggest chess competition in the world with over 200 countries taking part. David is a member of Elm Mount Chess Club, located at Beaumont Family Recreation Centre, near Artane Castle Shopping Centre. Adult members meet on Monday from 7.00 P.M. & on Wednesday evening from 7-9.00 P.M. for Children.
