Reminiscence on The Radio – 1955

Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and His Comets was the best-selling record around the world in 1955.  It was also the year that Bob Laird visited New Ross to celebrate his 5th birthday while JFK and his wife Jackie visited Dublin. Maria Mahony started school in 1955 and got a wallop from a nun for saying she was named after Maria Goretti… School days weren’t so much fun back in the 1950s it seems. Maria recites ‘If I were a Lady’ by Percy French, coincidentally Bob organised a Percy French 100th Anniversary Gathering in Skerries last summer.  Small World.
