Maurice Murphy (81) is the oldest member of the multi award winning choir Dolce based in Drumcondra. Maurice recites ‘A Christmas Childhood’ by Patrick Kavanagh in memory of Podge Kavanagh of Raheny who died two weeks ago aged 98. Podge was the father of Deirdre Ni Chaomhanaigh, musical director of Dolce.
Rose Henderson is best known to Irish audiences as Sister Assumpta in Father Ted. More recently she and fellow actor Pat Nolan who plays Barry in Fair City have written and produced a dementia inclusive play called ‘Take Off Your Cornflakes’.
This play is inspired by Rose’s dad and shows the funny and tender moments of living with dementia. ‘Take Off Your Cornflakes’ will be touring nationwide in 2020 starting in Droichead in Drogheda on Thursday 6 February, Wednesday 12 February in Pavilion Dun Laoghaire and in the Civic Theatre Tallaght on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th February.
