On this edition of Enviro we discussed:

Tony Lowes of Friends of the Irish Environment gave details of the court case to do with extensive gas storage facilities in the West of Ireland, about which his organisation has taken a legal case against An Bord Pleanala. Tony mentioned that this oil was extracted on a fracking basis which was raised at the hearing and John mentioned the important anti-fracking group

ECOLEAKS: the fact that Facebook censored this site by eliminating many of the members from the list of subscribers arbitrarily. This is the World’s largest anti-fracking group built by EcoLeaks, Facebook deleted 14,000 members by request of the govenm- is located in Argentina

Johnny Woodlock of the Irish Seal Sanctuary commented on the proposals from some quarters to carry out a  seal cull in the south west of Ireland. He pointed out why a cull in his opinion and that of his colleagues in the caring for Seals world regard a cull as unnecessary.

Susan Breen environmentalist and activist spoke at length  about where she gets her inspiration and what she wants to achieve environmentally. She explained what the ‘Extension Rebellion’ movement is about as well as its importance and how it can make a big difference. She had attended the launch of the new Forest Friends Branch in the South East of Ireland (New Ross) on the previous Saturday and spoke about the Extinction Rebellion movement there.

We mentioned the fact that there had been a deer cull in the Phoenix Park and that the Alliance for Animal Rights (AFAR)  was full of Fury at what it described as  ‘the careless, needless cull of Deer at Fernhill’in censoed the Wicklow area.
