Today, Wednesday February the 28th, is International Rare Diseases Day and we will be highlighting this on Lifeline today. The Last day of February was chosen for this because February the 29th was a ‘rare day’ – and while 2018 is not a leap year, it falls on today instead, to make this an annual event. Michael Hennessy speaks to Patricia Towey who is the information and services coordinator for The Huntington’s Disease Association which is also described as a rare genetic disease, about the condition.
