Amanda McLeod Head of Home Economics at St Angelas College in Sligo talks to Noel McGuinness about this competiton. In conjuction with the Restaraunts Association Of Ireland (rai.ie) they are challenging post primary students to recreate their favourite restaraunt meal. The brief is to try to make the meal healthier and also maintain a reasonable budget. Participants cook the meal in their own home and send in a photo of their creation along with the entry form. Closing date is February 28th, 16 seniors and 16 Juniors will then be chosen to go forward to the grand final in Sligo on May 6th and 7th of this year. As part of the finals weekend each contestant will be mentored by a top chef and also an expert in Home Economics.
