Left of the Dial: Theme Tune Boy

Theme Tune Boy is the most recent incarnation of Niall Quinn, who gained popularity both here and in the UK in the late 90’s as drummer and songwriter with The Hitchers. They released two albums “It’s all well and good till someone loses an eye“, and “For the want of some better TV” and during they’re existence they secured some well known fans in Bob Geldof, Sean Hughes, and the legendary John Peel, who they recorded a session for that has been repeated throughout the years. They also did a session for our own John Peel, Dave Fanning.

When the Hitchers called it a day in 2001, Niall went on to release a couple of EPs, Legalise Murder and Murder He Did with the short-lived Niall Quinn and the Pennywhores, receiving lots of critical parise, and securing plenty of air play on national radio.

In Theme Tune Boy guise he has released 4 singles to date, Rose, Janurary Drabs, Tailrace, and Euro 2012 special, Park the Bus. “Return of the Living Dead” was recorded between Limerick and The Hague (Netherlands) with dutch band Cooper, and will be out later this year.
