Fergal Somerville and the North Channel Swim

Fergal Somerville tells Noel McGuinness about his recent attempt to swim from Donaghadee, Co. Down across the North Channel to the coast of Scotland.  He describes how the weather turned against him and after one and a half hours into the swim he was forced to abandon it.  Not only had the wind strengthened, the water had developed a ten foot swell and became too dangerous for both himself and the accompanying boat.  Fergal is raising funds for the Aislinn Adolescent Addiction Service.  He is keeping up the training regime and hoping to attempt the swim again within the next few weeks.  Best of luck Fergal.
