Declan Cahill presented on Monday (28/5/12) on Nearfm  a programme called ‘Turn a New Leaf’. The show is all about books read  live on air (on 90.3fm; www.near.ie)
The first book in the series is a children’s book – see below. The objectives are two-fold:
1. Encouraging school children to read more, and 
2. Motivating children to write their own stories
It involved boys from St. Davids Boys National School, Kilmore Road, Artane, reading their own compositions and also reading from the children’s book ‘Danny Dempsey and the Unlikely Alliance’ by Denis Byrne.
