DJPDarren J. Prior spoke to Breda Gahan, Global Health HIV and AIDS adviser and consultant, about World AIDS Day 2025 and the struggle to end HIV/AIDS around the world which has become more challenging in recent years to the extent that by 2030 on current trends there would be a regression of progress, never mind meeting the UN 20230 targets. Funding available for HIV programmes in low- and middle-income countries in 2023 ($19.8 billion) was more than 32 per cent short of the $29.3 billion needed in 2025.
World AIDS Day is marked every year on the 1st December.
The documentary ‘My Sweet Child’ will be screened in the Light House Cinema in Dublin on Dec. 10th at 6.30pm, with a Q&A following with the Director Maarten de Schutter.
