Saturday the 28th of September saw the 13th annual March for choice organised by The Abortion Rights Campaign and a protest outside the Gates of Leinster House.
The assembled crowds who had gathered in heavy rain heard Lauran Kilmartin, co-convenor of the Abortion Rights Campaign, call for abortion to be recognised as an essential healthcare – “on Demand and Without Apology.” M/s Kilmartin called for politicians, who she says “made promises to stop treating women like criminals and sending them abroad, to step up to their words.”
Ger Leddin spoke to Lauran Kilmartin along with Eva, a member of CiociaCzesia, a volunteer-led organization that helps Polish women secure safe abortions in the Czech Republic,
