Part one

Myra Gleeson chats with Jarlath Cunnane who built the aluminum yacht called the Northabout. It became the first small yacht to complete the most challenging East – West circumnavigation in the Arctic Ice Cap. Navigating the top of Alaska and continuing across the top of Russia.

The Northabout is a small metal sailing yacht which was built in County Mayo. With a crew of eight sailors and the skipper Jarlath Cunnane. The remarkable crew and yacht sailed through storms, icebergs and some scary Polar bears.
