Darren J. Prior spoke to Senator Mark Wall from the Labour Party to get up an update off him on how he and his party want to see the Gambling Regulation Bill strengthened and brought in in early 2024. They also discussed in particular the Labour Party’s call for a complete ban on gambling advertising in the media; for the State-only to be the primary provider of gambling addiction services; and for educational programmes in schools and third level on gambling not be given by the gambling industry body the Gambling Awareness Trust also known as Gambling Care. Mark and his party believe that the power can be given to the Gambling Regulator under the Gambling Regulation Act when legislated for to regulate the gambling industry like this.
