Welcome to episode 25 in The Hugh Lane Concert series, Near FM’s long running music concert series, recorded in the beautiful surrounds of Dublin’s Hugh Lane gallery. In this episode we are delighted to present Crash Ensemble, Ireland’s leading new music ensemble; a group of world-class musicians who play the most adventurous, ground-breaking music of today.

Amidst the onset of the global pandemic, Crash commissioned Irish & International composers from a range of musical backgrounds to write new works for duos within the group. Building on existing collaborative partnerships and cultivating and nurturing new relationships, composers were invited to create a musical response to their experiences, the current state and their thoughts for the future. This concert programme features a selection of these commissions,a s well as interviews with Crash members Larissa O’Grady, Kate Ellis and Caimin Gilmore.

First broadcast on Tuesday October 18th 2022 at 2pm on Near FM. The concert was recorded by Crash Ensemble, and mixed by Paul Loughran. Interviews by Ken Tuohy, and audience reactions by Dorothee Meyer Holtkamp. Thanks to Mary Barnecutt and all in the Hugh Lane gallery, Dublin.
