Women’s Safety in the Aftermath of the Ashling Murphy Murder

The whole country is in mourning after the brutal assault and murder of young teacher, Ashling Murphy in Tullamore last week. The 23-year-old was brutally murdered in broad daylight while out for a run and due to the nature of the crime, many women are now feeling very frightened about being out alone.
Adrianne Murphy spoke with Noeline Blackwell, CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre about this very real fear, how women might stay safe, new legislation required and how we might work towards changing men’s attitude to women.
