Reminiscence on the Radio: 1964

1964 was the year Beatlemania caught fire, they still hold the record set that year with the Top Five singles in the charts at the same time, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘She Loves You’ ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ and ‘Please, Please Me’. It was also the year that poet Tony Curtis discovered he had a talent for poetry and recited a poem called ‘Odd’ the name his granny gave to him. Marie Towell recited Seamus Heaney ‘Mid-Term Break’ and shared her memory of going to a hop in Portrane where the Beatles reigned supreme in the summer of 1964.
