Karen Meenan met with Pearse Barnett (74) and Mary Bohan (86) both members of the Forget-Me-Nots choir. They shared stories from 1958 – Pearse was 12 years old and was in Morton Stadium in Santry on the very day that Herb Eliott broke the world record smashing the mile record 3 minutes 54.5 seconds. Mary was working as a nurse in London in 1958, that was the year she met her husband Charlie. Mary worked with Roger Bannister in London where he was a consultant – he broke the first four minute mile in 1954. Small world!
