Paul, a volunteer with the Samaritans, talks to Noel McGuinness about their Helpline over Christmas which will be manned by approximately 20 volunteers. The Dublin Branch of Samaritans offer a 24-hour service to those who need a listening ear. In addition to phone calls, the volunteers will also respond to texts, emails and meeting people face to face. People can also visit their branch on Marlborough Street between 10am and 10pm if they need to speak to someone face to face.

As volunteers prepare for their Annual Carol Singing on Grafton Street on Saturday 21st they are also planning to recognise the Longest Night of the Year. This will be marked by a special outreach event where volunteers will have a presence in Dublin city centre between 7pm and 9pm on the night of Sunday 22nd December.
