SUAS

Adelaide Nic Chartaigh SUAS Mentoring Programme Manager and Dylan Westphal a Suas Mentor in DCU talk to Noel McGuinness on Northside2Day.  They discuss educational disadvantage in Ireland, and the work of the SUAS Mentoring Programme which recruits and trains 3rd level students to provide one-on-one educational support to children from designated disadvantaged schools.  For the school children involved the SUAS Mentoring Programme works to build their confidence, self-esteem, and ultimately improve their performance at school.  It also encourages them to stay in the education system and aspire to attending 3rd level. At the same time, the programme teaches students/Mentors the skills of leadership, commitment, communication and learning through service.  Listen to this podcast to hear all about this beneficial programme.
