Norma Burke chats to Frances McNamee, the star of Sting’s new musical The Last Ship

Hot on the heels of starring alongside Kelsey Grammer (Frazier) in the musical Big Fish in London’s West End, actress Frances McNamee comes to Dublin to play the starring role in The Last Ship, the debut musical theatre show by the iconic musician, singer and actor Sting .

After receiving widespread critical acclaim and Five Star Reviews at it’s official opening in Newcastle’s Northern Stage, The Last Ship sets sail in Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on June 5th.

This personal musical inspired by Sting’s own childhood experiences, shows the collective defiance of a community facing the demise of the shipbuilding industry alongside a poignant and moving romantic tale of childhood sweethearts and the adults they grew up to become.

Featuring an awe-inspiring and impressive set by award-winning 59 Productions, this is the Irish premiere of The Last Ship, Sting’s heartfelt and empowering new musical.
