Cormac Moore, Dublin City Libraries’ Historian in Residence for the North Central Area continues his series of talks with Noel McGuinness and this week he takes a look back at the War of Independence and the Treaty Negotiations. He points out that the start of the War of Independence on 21st January 1919 was on the same day that the first Dáil sat and says that it was a defensive war initially which did not have much public support but that British reactions led to more and more people supporting the volunteers.
