Dr Mary Muldowney – Sarah Lundberg Summer School, 18th July in the Sean O’Casey Theatre, East Wall. The event is organised jointly by East Wall History Group and Alternative Visions Oral History Group to honour their colleague Sarah Lundberg. This years event explores the life and times of Kathleen Lynn. Lynn was Chief Medical Officer in the City Hall garrison in 1916, but when the Officer Commanding was shot, she, as next highest-ranking officer, took over the garrison. In 1919 she established St Ulton’s Hospital and was a qualified doctor (unusal for a woman in this era).
