A new Radio series exploring the historical development of the EU and Ireland’s place in that development will be broadcast by north east Dublin Community radio station near90fm. The programmes will be aired on nine consecutive Thursday’s at 6.30pm commencing 3rd March 2011. Series Producer, Ignacio Irigoien says “this series is to inform people of the history and workings of the EU, its institutions and their effect on Ireland. It is a very timely initiative in view of the increasing role the EU will have in Irish affairs, especially economically, in the coming years”.

Programme 5 – The Council of the European Union
The Council, as we will learn in this programme despite the name is not one but several councils that are comprised of the ministers of the different states with responsibilities for a particular area. We will learn about who is in charge of the council.
