Padraig Naughton is Director of Arts & Disability Ireland. He tells Noel McGuinness about the production of “Signs of a Diva” at axis: Ballymun. This one-woman show will take place on 18th February and features Caroline Parker. Caroline is a well-known deaf actor who has worked with the BBC and Channel 4. The show is basically about an undertaker who becomes a diva but no ordinary diva – she is a signed, song diva! This comedy charts the undertaker’s rise starting in the North of England to becoming a night club diva. The songs in the show are all famous power ballads by artists such as Celine Dion. This is a spoken word play with captions but the songs are signed so the production is suitable for deaf, visually impaired and disabled people.
