Return to the Pine Trees<\/strong>\u00a0is a selection of 6 short stories about growing up in the North Dublin areas of Turnapin Lane, Clonshaugh, Coolock Lane and Santry in the late 1960s and early 1970s by Dublin born Gerry Cooley.<\/p>\n

These stories capture a happy, innocent childhood\u00a0\u00a0and they bring to life a time in these areas on the outskirts of Dublin City before they all changed forever.<\/p>\n

This series is a follow on to 2011\u2032s Turn at the Pine Trees and the stories are taken from the book of the same name available in all Northside book stores and to rent from your local library.<\/p>\n

1. Picking Mushrooms in Geraghty’s Field<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the first story and one of Gerry’s most popular. This story seems to resonate with people with a rural background where this experience has not been consigned completely to the past. The opportunity to add sound effects really brings this one off the book pages and into the audio world enhancing the story greatly.<\/p>\n

One anecdotal addition to the story is that the noisy cockeral does in fact meet his waterloo at the hands of his father and ended up on the Kitchen table. Geraghty’s Field is now Airways industrial estate on the old airport road.<\/p>\n

This series is made with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of\u00a0Ireland’s\u00a0Sound and Vision scheme.<\/p>\n
