John read an extract from his poem \u2018Oh Swallow\u2019 which is published in his published poetry work \u2018Weaving Wonder Webs\u2019 He also read a short poem by Lord Moyne (Byran Guinness) 1905-1992 about the Lark with the title \u2018What are they thinking\u2019 . On the bird theme we played \u2018Paloma Blanca\u2019 from a CD \u2018The 70s Karaoke Party\u2019 which translated means \u2018White Dove\u2019 We also played the song \u2018When the Swallows come back to Capistrano\u2019 from the CD \u2018Whispering Grass\u2019 by the \u2018Ink Spots\u2019 one of a few black groups who broke into the big time in the 1930s and 1940s. One of the others being \u2018The Drifters\u2019. We had a short discussion about each person\u2019s favourite bird.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other theme was great Irish writers and in studio we had Italian students on an internship with Forest Friends and they spoke of their favourite Irish writer. The students are \u2018Millennial\u2019 and we discussed what they are bringing to the table as a distinct cohort of people. It was pointed out that recent research shows that young people today feel less optimistic about the future and the students agreed and gave reasons. The students are from the southern tip of Italy, the\u2019 instep\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was pointed out that a two week celebration of Sean O\u2019Casey begins on Tuesday 11<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. September. Also on <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/289169610?ref=fb-share&amp;1\">Culture night there is a celebration of Brendan Behan<\/a> and his love of the Irish language and his fine writings.
