Roy and Silo two male penguins in Central Park Zoo in 1998 were given an egg to hatch together and developed into a beautiful female baby called\u00a0Tango who\u00a0herself formed a same-sex relationship with another female penguin. The story\u00a0inspired a book called &#8216;<i>And Tango Makes Three&#8221; published by Simon &amp;\u00a0<span id=\"m_-1384410909326819322:1ex.3\">Schuster<\/span>\u00a0<\/i>was controversial at the time and\u00a0at the center of numerous\u00a0censorship\u00a0and\u00a0<wbr \/>culture war\u00a0debates on\u00a0same-sex marriage,\u00a0adoption, and\u00a0homosexuality in animals<a class=\"m_-1384410909326819322gmail-mw-redirect\" title=\"Homosexuality in animals\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Homosexuality_in_animals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=es&amp;q=https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Homosexuality_in_animals&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1522423821997000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHo86dq_lCxGdfwXgS56cI6deNHTg\">\u00a0<\/a>and now deals with\u00a0<\/span>contemporary issues such as the\u00a0nature\u00a0of family, family structure, homosexuality, animal and human freedom and individuality in general.\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Penguins is both entertaining and educational and is\u00a0full of wonderful surprises.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Three tracks are featured from the performance by composer Garth\u00a0<span id=\"m_-1384410909326819322:1ex.4\">McConaghie<\/span>\u00a0which form\u00a0part of one work called \u2018Ice Carvings<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8216;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><i>Girl&#8217;s Solo Dance<br \/>\n<\/i><\/div>\n<div><i>Egg Hunting<br \/>\n<\/i><\/div>\n<div><i>Hide and Seek\u00a0<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><i><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div><i><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\"><em>Penguins<\/em>\u00a0is a unique and engaging show for children about friendship, fun, identity and the ever-changing meaning of family.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jack who is Roy\u00a0in\u00a0Penguins chats to me about the\u00a0play which is inspired by a true story reported in the 2004 New York Times and touched hearts worldwide.
