Originally from Clonakilty, Co. Cork, her research interests include Irish girls\u2019 literary cultures, children\u2019s and YA fiction, and contemporary Irish literature, particularly women\u2019s writing. She is currently a Visiting Research Fellow in the Institute of English Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London.<\/p>\n<p>In her talk \u2018Bold Girls: A Literary History of Wild Irish Girls\u2019, she will look at the extraordinary volume of novels published around the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century that feature wild Irish girls: girls who disrupt schools, who become artists, who open factories, and who even engage in revolutionary activity.
