\u201cGateways\u201d is a four part radio documentary on Dublin. The documentary hears from the people who live near, work at and are connected to the Airport. We talk to present and former employees of not only the major corporate entities at the Airport but also those who work in some of the ancillary businesses based at the Airport, along with those involved at a legislative and management level.<\/p>\n
The series concentrates on the people who contribute to everyday life in this unique North Dublin transport hub. From the Fire Chief to retired graphic designers, we learn what makes Dublin Airport special in the eyes of the travelling public. The series also looks at the positive influence the Airport has had on the community of North County Dublin.<\/p>\n
Topics as varied as the Swords Young Musician of the Year imitative and the role of the customs sniffer dogs are discussed and the listener is given a personal behind the scenes look at Dublin Airport.<\/p>\n

Episode one
\nLocal historian Gerry Cooley takes the listener on a nostalgic look back at the development of the area around the airport and speaks on his memories of growing up in Corballis town land where the airport is situated and tells of his time as an Altar Boy serving at the airport chapel.
\nWe speak to some passengers and get feedback on the airport from its users.
\nNiall Greene is a Director of the D.A.A. and gives us a unique insight into airport management and speaks of his experiences as a seasoned business traveller.
\nWe hear from four members of the Dublin Airport Band who outline who they are and what they do and tell us what it is like as a member of one of the world\u2019s only airport bands.
\nAs A Clare D\u00e1il Deputy and Fianna Fail spokesperson on transport Timmy Dooley is well qualified to discuss the historical impact of the compulsory Shannon Stopover on the development of both Shannon and Dublin airports. Timmy also speaks on the position of worker directors in the Airport.
\nFionnula May is County Architect with Fingal County Council and speaks on the subject of the original terminal building and on the conditions prevailing in Ireland during the construction of this iconic building.<\/p>\n
